![]() ![]() I have changed the sensor that is behind the glove box and it did not help. I know this is long but hopefully someone will come up with an answer since a lot of us have the same symptoms where we turn the ac off and when the air starts to flow we just turn it on again. I curcumvented this at one time by putting the fan on the second knotch and adding freon untill the pressures where up and it worked. At 2200 rpm it dropped down to 28 pounds which will make it freeze up. I then put the fan on the second notch where I normally have it and sure enough my pressure dropped instantly at idle down to 35 pounds. It was freezing up yesterday and I was wondering what had changed since the air was 27 degrees coming out of the vent just before it would freeze yesterday. When I ran the rpm up to 2200 it dropped to 35 which is still good. At idle my low side was reading 40 pounds of pressure. I checked the freon today at idle with the ac on and the fan on high. The one the dealer shows I should have (and the same one that is on the 3500) is a 2-blade plug connected by a wire to a 1" metal probe that obviously inserts into the fins of the evaporator. So, why is the Mega different? Is there a factory fix for this or a change mine has not had complied with? My sensor is a single piece, white in color with a 2-pin plug on top and is bent at approx 120 deg. We even checked another 2006 2500 single cab and it is the same as mine all were diesels. However, it is identical to the one in a 2006 3500 MegaCab they were working on in the svc. ![]() I found advice on how to cut the HVAC housing to gain access to the sensor which eliminates the need to remove the entire dash!! I bought a new sensor from the dealer but it is not like the one in my 2006 2500 quad cab. Had the freon recharged last fall and that did not fix it.īeen researching this for awhile and have come to two possible fixes. then turn it back on, everything is fine.for about another 30 min. At that time, the air coming out of the vents decreases considerably, although it is still cold. I am experiencing what I believe is an evaporator freezing up after about 30 minutes of running my a/c. Does anyone know why Dodge has two different locations for the evaporator temperature sensor on the 2006 diesels? ![]()
